Adyson Jelleberg and Morgan Haerer, both originally from Bottineau have been selected as a Bronze Scholars on the Coca-Cola Academic Team. This program is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and is administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Necropsy Procedure Demonstrated

The Wildlife and Fisheries Techniques class at Dakota College at Bottineau welcomed Charlie Bahnson, Wildlife Veterinarian, from the North Dakota Game and Fish Department this week. Charlie performed a necropsy on a female beaver and a cow elk in the classroom allowing the students to observe and network.

Dakota College Nursing Program Undergoes Accreditation

Dakota College at Bottineau recently underwent an accreditation virtual visit by the National League of Nursing Commission Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) on March 23-25, 2022. Accreditation is a rigorous and lengthy process by which the program is evaluated to ensure nursing students receive an exceptional and quality education. A self-study report of the Dakota College Associate Degree Nursing Program was submitted to the CNEA in February, 2022.

Dakota College Received and Completed Community Family Forest Grant

In September of 2020, Dakota College at Bottineau was awarded the Community Family Forest Grant. This was awarded by the North Dakota Forest Service and funded by the Trees for North Dakota Trust Fund. The purpose of this grant is to honor families in the state by planting trees in North Dakota communities and to strengthen the tradition of annual tree planting.

Author James Barilla to Present at Dakota College

James Barilla, author of this year’s book read at Dakota College, My Backyard Jungle, will be visiting the campus and Bottineau community April 20, 2022. My Backyard Jungle is an adventure of an urban wildlife lover who turned his yard into habitat and learned to live with it. It offers a captivating story of an urban family who welcomes wildlife into their backyard and discovers the ups and downs of sharing habitat. Told in a wonderfully open-hearted and funny voice.

Greenhouse Volunteers Assist With Planting Flowers

Dakota College at Bottineau has a beautiful campus and there are many individuals who assist with the landscaping. On March 24th, a group of volunteers from the Bottineau area came into the Greenhouse to assist in transferring plugs from their trays to single cells. Plugs are known as young plants that are grown in large quantities that started from a small seed or cutting. These plugs were ordered from Mast Young Plants who are located in Michigan.

Dakota College Campus Conducts Hemp Trials

Dakota College at Bottineau was awarded $37,553 from the North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission. This grant’s purpose is to “provide necessary assistance to the research and marketing needs of the state by developing new uses for agricultural products, byproducts, and by seeking more efficient systems for processing and marketing agricultural products and byproducts…” This grant ran from June 2020 until November 2021. During this time, hemp trials were conducted in two different environments; Bottineau, ND and Absaraka, ND that include high tunnels and open fields.

The Northeast Regional Science Olympiad was held at Dakota College at Bottineau campus March 24, 2022. Eleven area schools competed for the chance to qualify for the North Dakota State Science Olympiad competition.

Three Teams Compete at Nationals

Three Teams Compete at Nationals

Dakota College at Bottineau Is proud to announce three of the Jack athletic teams have earned a trip to their respective national tournament over spring break. The Lumberjack and Ladyjack hockey teams are participating at the ACHA Division II tournaments hosted in St. Louis, Missouri. This is the second consecutive year the Lumberjack hockey team has earned a spot in the national ACHA Division tournament. Prior to being a part of the ACHA division, the Lumberjacks won ten NJCAA championships while playing at the Junior College level.
