Dakota College at Bottineau Reports Record Spring Enrollment

Dakota College at Bottineau reached a record spring semester enrollment for a third consecutive year. Dakota College’s headcount enrollment is 1,112 students, which was an increase of 82 students, or 8%, from last spring. Full-time equivalent enrollment was also up by 8%. Spring semester enrollment has grown by over 200 students over the past two years. While full-time student enrollment increased from last spring, the college saw significant growth in part-time enrollment, especially students taking dual-credit courses and online courses.

DCB Recognizes Alumni Award Honorees

Since 1982 Dakota College at Bottineau Alumni Association has hosted an Awards Recognition banquet which honors athletes, students, supportive community members and alumni. The DCB Alumni accepts nominations for Golden Service Award, Friend of the College, and Young Alumnus annually. The Alumni Association award recipients will be acknowledged at the Awards Recognition Banquet, Thursday, February 10th at 6:00 pm in the Alumni Center at Thatcher Hall.
Smokey’s Court Announced

Smokey’s Court Announced

To keep with the storied tradition that dates back to 1961, Dakota College at Bottineau faculty and staff are excited to announce their nominations for Smokey’s Court 2022. Nominations for the Smokey’s court was held last week by faculty and staff. Students eligible for the honor must have completed 24 credits, and be a full-time degree seeking on-campus student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to be considered.

DCB Brings Back Smokey’s Week

With the new year- 2022, Dakota College at Bottineau students will revive a storied tradition that dates back to 1961, namely Smokey’s Week. Originally celebrated during the winter months, Smokey’s Week activities changed to a fall homecoming tradition when the football program was re-established at the college in 2007. With football no longer at the college, and with the recent addition of women’s hockey, students and staff felt the time was right to bring back Smokey’s week.

Dakota College at Bottineau is excited to announce Britta Hehr, Paramedic Technology program student has been awarded a $1,000.00 scholarship from the North Dakota EMS Foundation “EMS Foundation”. The vision of the EMS Foundation is to promote and support prehospital emergency medical services across the state of North Dakota.

Spring Book Read Continues

Dakota College at Bottineau continues the Campus Read program through spring semester, 2022. January 11th kicks off the semester with the first gathering. The book Money: The True Story of a Made-Up Thing by Jacob Goldstein will be discussed with the group at 7:00 pm in the Centennial Alumni Center located on second floor of Thatcher Hall. Everyone is invited to attend whether they have read some or all of the book.

Dakota College Nursing Students Receive Scholarships

The Trinity Health Foundation recently awarded scholarships to area nursing students. Trinity noted in a recent news release that 2021 had a record number of 68 applicants apply. Dakota College at Bottineau has four of the 17 scholarships awarded to nursing students throughout the region. Recipients each received $3,000, totaling $51,000 awarded by the Trinity Health Foundation.

Dakota College at Bottineau has been around almost as long as North Dakota itself. The state constitution, ratified in 1889, provided for a forestry school to help promote the growth of trees on the prairies. January, 2022 marks the 115th year of Dakota College’s existence.

New Nursing Site in Jamestown

To help address the state’s nursing shortage, Dakota College at Bottineau announces an additional Dakota Nursing Program site at the ND State Hospital in Jamestown. Students may receive their Practical Nursing (PN) degree starting the fall of 2022.
