Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) is excited to share that Angie Bartholomay, DCB Science Professor was awarded the 2023 "Environmental Educator of the Year" Trees Award. Nominations were received from across the state and she was recognized by the North Dakota Forest Service and North Dakota State University.
Student success is at the core of Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) and administration at the institution reflects that vision. Leadership responsibilities have been realigned recently to highlight both classroom learning and student development.
Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) will gather to observe Arbor Day on Friday, October 13 in recognition of its appreciation and commitment to trees on the DCB campus. This commitment and passion dates to DCB’s history from when it first opened as the School of Forestry in 1906 and it continues to this day. This same care, and passion is shared with faculty, staff, students, and the community as DCB seeks to meet its vision of “adapting to the changing educational landscape to empower students and impact communities.”
Since 1982 Dakota College at Bottineau Alumni Association has hosted an Awards Recognition banquet that honors athletes, students, supportive community members, and alumni. The DCB Alumni Association accepts nominations for the Golden Service, Friend of the College, and Young Alumnus awarded annually. The Alumni Association and Lumberjack Athletic Hall of Fame recipients will be acknowledged at the Awards Recognition Banquet, Saturday, October 21, 2023, in an event at the Cobblestone Inn, Bottineau.
Enrollment at Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) is up this fall, with headcount hitting an all-time high for the institution. The North Dakota University System calculates official fall enrollment for all 11 colleges and universities on the 20th instructional day of the semester. This year, that day was September 20, 2023. Headcount enrollment at DCB is 1,180 students, surpassing last year’s mark by 100 students and breaking the record headcount of 1,162 students set in fall 2021. Full-time equivalent enrollment (FTE) enrollment profiles at 575 for Fall 2023, indicating a substantial number of part-time students at the institution. FTE is calculated by taking the total number of credits for which students are registered and dividing by 15 credits, which is the number the North Dakota University System uses for determining a full-time student.
Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) is excited to earn the Advanced Technological Education (ATE) grant award from the National Science Foundation, the U.S. government’s independent science agency. The ATE program focuses on the education of technicians who work in high-tech fields that drive the nation’s economy. Because two-year community and technical colleges are the leading sources of technician education in the United States, faculty from these higher education institutions have had leadership roles in most ATE projects since the program began in 1993.
The Dakota Nursing program at Dakota College at Bottineau pinned Practical Nurse graduates in Valley City and Minot last week. There were five at the Valley City location and 16 graduates at the Minot location. Dakota College at Bottineau’s practicum is a member of the Dakota Nursing Program, a consortium of community college nursing departments that work together to offer a common curriculum for a Practical Nursing Certificate and an associate in applied science in nursing.

Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) was recently rated one of the top three 2023 most affordable online colleges offering the Medical Assistant associate degree.
As a public institution, DCB offers career and technical programs on campus and online in six areas: business, computer technology, education and human development, health professions, natural resources, and photography. Founded as a forestry school in 1906, DCB serves as one of the eleven campuses in the North Dakota University System.
The online Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assistant is a health professions career and technical course offered to students interested in clinical and administrative skills training. Medical assistants play an integral role in healthcare teams by helping deliver high-quality patient care. Students complete 60-61 credit hours to graduate, which may take as little as two years of full-time attendance. 100% of DCB’s applicants are accepted through the open admissions policy, and 31% of students graduate with degrees.
This spring, Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) ND Farm Management Education (NDFME) instructors held the 2022 Region 2 average presentation at each of the instructing locations. Presentations were held in their respective instructing communities of Minot, Bottineau, Rugby by Lynsey Aberle, Dr. Linda Burbidge and Morgan Stutrud. These meetings informed producers as well as lenders of the average results for the 2022 production season and answered questions that attendees had about the results or the NDFME Program.
