Two students from Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) have been named to the 2026 All-North Dakota Academic Team, which recognizes students’ academic achievements, leadership, and service. The group was honored on April 16 during a recognition dinner at Williston State College.
Corey Gorder, DCB Campus Dean, shares his support for the students. “I was honored to attend this event in support of our two award winners, Katherine and Adyson. They are exceptional people with many positive characteristics who will go on to accomplish great things”.
This year’s team members and the colleges they attend included:
- Adyson Brady, of West Point, Utah, is currently pursuing a Liberal Arts Degree at DCB. In high school, she was on both the honors and high honors lists. At DCB, she is a member of the Lumberjack softball team, receiving First Team All-American Honors, has been on the Dean’s list the past two semesters, is a resident assistant, is currently a tutor, and is an active member of PTK. She plans to transfer to continue both her academic and athletic careers, pursuing a degree in sports psychology. Her goal is to help young athletes through the mental struggles they may face.
- Katherine Schmitt, of Towner, ND, is currently pursuing her Human Resource Management degree at DCB. She has been actively involved in PTK as a voting delegate. She has also been on the Dean’s list throughout her tenure at DCB. She is currently interning at the McHenry County Courthouse as a Deputy Auditor. She is hoping her degree prepares her for a lifelong career with the potential to move into a higher position.
In North Dakota, the community college awards are co-sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and the NDUS College Technical Education Council. The academic team recognition program is active in 37 states. Students named to the state team are also nominated for the All-USA Academic Team.
Nominations are based on outstanding academic performance and service to the college and community. Each member of the team receives a certificate of congratulations from Gov. Kelly Armstrong, an award certificate, a medallion and a monetary award. Team members are also eligible for scholarships from the four-year ND University System institutions along with the University of Mary.
