Paramedic Program Deadline Fast Approaching
Date Published: 3/16/26

Careers in emergency medicine continue to grow in both popularity and demand. Dakota College at Bottineau offers the Paramedic Technology program at its Minot location, and applications are now being accepted for the 14-month program.
The Paramedic Technology program is designed for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who want to advance their scope of practice. Applicants must be nationally certified EMTs and hold a current BLS CPR certificate before the program start date. An interview will be scheduled for all applicants who submit a completed application by April 1, 2026.
This four-semester program runs from early June through the following July. A two-day orientation will be held in mid-May, and classes officially begin June 1, 2026. Lecture sessions take place on Monday and Thursday evenings, with attendance available in person or remotely. Coursework is delivered through a combination of on-site instruction and Microsoft Teams, which is a video meeting platform. Certified instructors and trained preceptors guide students through classroom lectures, hands-on labs, and clinical experiences. Labs are held on Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and must be attended in person. Clinical requirements include a designated number of hours, skills, and patient contacts.
The DCB Paramedic Technology program is excited about its new space at the DCB Downtown location. “We want to have a space that we can set up like real situations our students will see- bedroom, kitchens, living rooms, etc.” Mary Jund, Program Manager, notes that additional high-fidelity mannequins will soon be available to help provide realistic scenarios and train students for situations they will see in real life.
This blended format provides students with a high-quality, flexible, and accessible education experience. Upon completion, students will be ready to take their National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) computer-based testing and practical examination to become certified as a paramedic.
For additional information about admission to the program, details can be found on the Dakota College at Bottineau website www.dakotacollege.edu/academics/programs/paramedic-technology The deadline for applications is April 1, 2026.
