Gorder Named DCB Campus Dean
Date Published: 2/25/26

Dr. Steven Shirley, President of Minot State University (MSU) and Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB), announced Tuesday, February 24, that Corey Gorder will serve as the new Campus Dean at DCB.
Under the operating agreement between the two campuses, DCB is an affiliate campus of Minot State University. The Campus Dean serves as chief executive officer of the Bottineau campus while reporting to the MSU/DCB president. Gorder succeeds Dr. Carmen Simone, who became president of Lake Region State College in July 2025.
Gorder has been serving as interim Campus Dean, a role that positions him well for a smooth transition. “It will be a seamless move into the permanent position and will take place immediately,” said Dr. Shirley. “Corey is well-positioned to hit the ground running and is clearly ready to take this step as DCB’s next Campus Dean.”
Gorder holds a Master of Science in clinical psychology from Capella University, a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and sociology from Minot State University, and is a licensed professional clinical counselor in North Dakota. He joined DCB in 2013 as a Mental Health Counselor, became Athletic Director in 2020, and for the past two years has served as DCB’s Associate Dean of Student Services. He has also contributed to the college’s athletics program as an assistant men’s hockey coach.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead DCB and excited about what lies ahead,” said Corey Gorder. “DCB has tremendous momentum, and I look forward to working with our folks on campus to build on our strengths and advance our goals.”
