Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) is proud to announce the selection Dr. Gary Albrightson, DCB Associate Professor, as one of the latest Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty for the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). Named in honor of former AACC President and CEO Dale P. Parnell, this designation recognizes individuals making a difference in the classroom.

Nominated faculty demonstrate passion for the students by showing willingness to support them, inside and outside the classroom. Dr. Albrightson is an associate professor of general education courses at Dakota College at Bottineau. He shows commitment to students and his passion for the community by serving on committees supporting students and the community. As chair of the Fine Arts and Communications Department, he mentors junior faculty members. He is patient, but profound as a role model. He accepts leading roles on committees, most recently leading the curriculum committee for DCB. Dr. Albrightson recognizes and values the continual need to review and improve processes and is working with other faculty to redesign the curriculum approval process.

In addition to teaching a full load of courses, Dr. Albrightson spends countless hours organizing and managing the Campus Book Read program. He carefully intertwines various departments with invited speakers related to the chosen book. His informal interactions with students during these sessions demonstrates the respect he has earned. His efforts are extended to the community, offering monthly community book read events.

AACC will honor Dr. Albrightson at the annual convention at the closing lecture celebrating outstanding alumni and recipients.
