DCB ECH Announces Two Filled Positions
Entrepreneurial Center for Horticulture (ECH) is happy to introduce a new Farm Manager, Apryl Nylander and temporary Assistant Farm Manager, Janie Vandal.
Apryl has filled the dual role of Farm Manager and Greenhouse Maintenance, which are combined into the College Farm Manager position. She has experience in high tunnel growing and running a small CSA vegetable basket program. Apryl is originally from the state of Washington. She enjoys her small hobby farm in the Turtle Mountain area with chicken, sheep, goats, and growing. In talking with Apryl, she is very excited about this opportunity where her knowledge, skills and love for growing plants and mentoring others will be utilized. She is passionate about the program and says she loves that every year of gardening is a chance to learning something new and experiment with new methods.
Janie has worked in the DCB horticulture department the past three summers and has accepted the temporary summer position as ECH Assistant Farm Manager. Her interest in plants and experience in the horticulture field benefit the ECH program. Janie is in her last year of Floral Design and Greenhouse Technologies at Dakota College at Bottineau. She will work in the greenhouse full time this summer and part time during the school year.
