A Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) 2015 Liberal Arts student-athlete published her story of life with epilepsy, trauma, and athletics as she pursued self-discovery. The Power in My Pulse, by Imani Scott-Thompson, is her journey from childhood challenges and epileptic obstacles while chasing dreams on and off the basketball court. Imani reveals how resilience is about finding the courage to rise above.

Imani shares, “DCB did have some insight on my inspiration for writing the book, and there are a couple of chapters in the book where I talk about the positivity of DCB and the influence it had on me.” The inside book cover states, “This book is a testament to the unshakable power of the human spirit, a reminder that every struggle carries the possibility of transformation, the proof that purpose can be found even in life’s hardest battles.”

This book is sold as an inspiration to those facing challenges, reminding readers that they matter and that they can overcome and thrive. It is available at most book retailers and in DCB’s library.
