Dakota College at Bottineau to Host Second sUAS Industry Bootcamp in Spring 2026
Date Published: 1/20/26

Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) will host its second sUAS Industry Bootcamp from March 31 to April 1, 2026, building on the success of its inaugural program held in 2025. This immersive workshop is designed to equip professionals in agriculture, natural resources, and related industries with practical drone technology skills applicable to real-world challenges.
The bootcamp is part of DCB's ongoing National Science Foundation ATE grant initiatives, which focus on strengthening North Dakota's rural workforce by preparing highly skilled small, unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) technicians through education and hands-on training.
The comprehensive program includes three components: 24+ hours of required online curriculum covering FAA regulations, flight planning, weather essentials, and drone maintenance; two full days of hands-on workshop experience with practice flights, expert instruction, and guest speakers from industry leaders; and a capstone project aligned with participants' employer objectives, culminating in a virtual showcase in May.
The bootcamp experience includes all materials, housing and meals during the workshop, a bootcamp t-shirt, and access to expert instructors and networking opportunities. The hands-on sessions will take place at DCB's campus in Bottineau with possible excursions to explore drone use in the field.
Registration opened January 1, 2026, and closes February 4, 2026. Space is limited, and spots are expected to fill quickly. The online curriculum portion begins February 9, 2026, with participants completing coursework by March 27 in preparation for the in-person workshop.
