A Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is a healthcare professional who performs laboratory testing on blood and body fluids. Using automated analyzers and microscopes, MLTs play a critical role in helping physicians diagnose, treat, and prevent disease. Approximately 70% of medical decisions are based on laboratory results, making this profession essential to patient care. MLTs are in high demand in healthcare facilities nationwide.

Program Highlights

Students will learn foundational and complex concepts in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, immunohematology, urinalysis, and phlebotomy. Along with those, students will also learn about laboratory safety, quality control, safety, and laboratory instrumentation.

Our program offers small class sizes designed to maximize the learning and personable relationships. In hands-on lab portions, students will have the opportunity to work with lab equipment to reinforce and familiarize themselves with instrumentation.

Career choices

Graduates will have the option of working in hospitals, clinics, research facilities, and public health labs. Career advancement opportunities include becoming a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), specializing in a specific laboratory discipline, or pursuing leadership roles.
