S OC 110 Introduction to Sociology 3 semester hour credits Course Description: This course is an introductory analysis of the nature of society; the interrelationships of its component groups and the process whereby society persists in change. By definition, Sociology is the scientific study of human society and the social interactions within it. Prerequisite: none Course Objectives :  Introduction to the world of sociology and scholarship.  Develop an acute view of activities and how they relate to the tendencies of human behavior.  Understand basic components of human social systems and their corresponding sociological methodologies which develop them.  Apply scientific methods of analysis to social movements, issues, and trends.  Examine social issues from a humanistic perspective.  Explain why the idea of social structure is important in understanding societies and identify variations of it.
