AH 139 Basic Diagnosis Coding (ICD-10-CM) 3 Credits Course Description: This course is designed to provide students with medical diagnosis coding skills. The focus of the class is on the International Classification of Diseases, Clinical Modification or ICD-10-CM. Prerequisites: none Course Objectives: Students are expected to • Describe the use of codes and symbols found in the coding book. • Understand the usage of Z codes as they relate to coding diagnoses. • Correctly code diagnoses according to presented documentation. • Understand the fundamentals of correct coding and sequencing of diagnoses and procedures.
