Branching Out Spring 2019

DENNIS LAGASSE Logroller President JASON GUSS DCB Foundation President FROM THE FOUNDATION PRESIDENT ON BEHALF OF THE LOGROLLERS I hope this newsletter find you enjoying spring as this winter has been long and cold. The hockey and basketball seasons have come to a close and I have really enjoyed attending some of the athletic events over the winter. Although we may not find our baseball and softball teams on the field as quickly as we hoped, it is hopefully just around the corner. The Foundation office has also been busy searching for a new executive director over the last few months. We are delighted to have Leslie Stevens assist the Foundation in this role. She is an incredible team member to have for the Foundation. We really look forward to her leadership and abilities that she will provide in the director role. If you haven’t met her yet, I would highly encourage you to stop by the office and introduce yourself. We are in the process of conducting our annual drive with businesses from the community and surrounding area. We are blessed as a foundation to have such a strong financial supporting business sector in our region. If you haven’t been contacted about this in the past, we would really like for you to consider it. This is an easy way to have us contact you minimally throughout the year for the various events that you can participate in for the Foundation, Logrollers, and Alumni. Please contact the office for further information about the annual drive. We also wrapped up the Challenge Grant Program at the end of 2018 in which the Foundation was able to obtain a 50% match of specifically identified donations. This amount totaled over $258,000, which the state matched another $128,708 from this program. A great way to provide even more impact for the dollars that are donated to the college! As for the students at DCB this is also an exciting time as the school year is coming to an end. Plans for next year are being considered for those that are graduating from DCB. It really is a bitter sweet feeling of accomplishment, but yet departure from friendships built while being here at the college. I wish you nothing but the best in your life journey takes you from this point forward. May you find a passion that you enjoy and one that helps lead you to a self- rewarding career. Have a great spring! Happy Spring everyone!! Once again I would like to thank everyone for your support of the Logrollers and DCB. We continue to push forward and raise funds for student athletes. We could not do this without your help. Our goal is to try to raise $60,000.00 for students at DCB. It is never easy but we believe with your continued support we will make it happen. Currently, we are working hard at selling 500 tickets for the Logroller Athletic Scholarship Raffle. By the time this comes out, we will have had another big winner, and I hope you all had your name in the bucket. If not, be sure to get it in next year. We will continue to promote all of our fundraisers this year, starting with the calendar drawings in January, the scholarship raffle and dinner, move on to the Turtle Trot at Lake Metigoshe and next thing you knowwe will have our annual golf tournament in July. Which brings us right in to a new season of football with homecoming and the Hall of Fame banquet in October. Our winter sports season has ended and nowwe are waiting for the weather to break so the spring sports can get some action in. Logrollers will again offer scholarships for the sports of Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball and Volleyball. Again, I thank you. We could not do it without your support.
