Dakota College at Bottineau Course Syllabus Course Prefix/Number/Title: NURS 100 – Nurse Assistant Training Number of credits: 3 Course Description: This course is designed to train students to provide quality care to patients and residents in both long term and hospital settings. The students will also learn the practical skills required to do the job of a nurse assistant. The course is a combination of classroom time, assignment submission through Blackboard and time spent at a clinical site. Course Objectives: This course will provide the student with up-to-date, essential information on providing quality patient/resident care and the technical skills necessary to do so. It is expected that the student will be able to *Understand what a culture of caring is and the philosophy of mindfulness. *Identify and understand the themes of care incorporated in caring for others. *Understand how to support patients/residents in activities of daily living (ADLs). *Demonstrate the ability to perform the technical skills necessary to be a nursing assistant. *Be prepared to take the exam to earn certification as a nurse assistant.
