Dakota College at Bottineau Course Syllabus Fall 2019 Course Prefix/Number/Title: HPER 110 Sports Officiating Number of credits: 1 Course Description: The students will learn the rules of football and basketball and understand the concepts needed to become a football or volleyball and basketball official Pre-/Co-requisites: None Course Objectives: The objective of this course is to introduce the rules and mechanics of officiating football and basketball. The students will learn the rules of the game and how to enforce them. The students will learn it is a valuable way to give back to the game that they once played or loved to watch. Students will officiate and actual football or basketball game at the minor, JV or high school level depending on competence.
