Careers Program Coordinator, TRIO Student Support Services

Full-time, 9.5 month, benefited position

Background: The Federally funded TRIO Student Support Services Program is a new program on the DCB campus and will provide intensive academic advising and support to students who are first generation, low-income, and/or have a disability.

 Position Duties:

  • Counsel and advise career and technical studies student participants. Develop an Academic Success Plan with each student tailored to each student’s academic, social, and personal needs and goals and monitor each student’s progress through weekly advising meetings. Recommend and implement interventions to address student academic problems, prepare reports on student progress and success.
  • Plan and coordinate workshops, recruit guest speakers, and track student attendance at workshops
  •  Work with Financial Aid department to coordinate financial aid, FAFSA and financial literacy workshops.
  • Coordinate enrichment activities and plan and lead orientation activities, field trips and service learning projects.
  • Assist Program Director in recruitment and selection of eligible participants. Review applications and conduct intake interviews and make selection recommendations to Program Director.
  • Develop and coordinate a wide array of career and job search resources for all student participants. Provide general career information to all program participants, while helping to clarify personal values and goal setting. Lead career exploration workshops.
  • Develop relationships with regional business leaders, non-profit organizations and public agencies, develop opportunities for student job shadowing and internships, recruit business leaders to speak to students at workshops
  •  Meet regularly with SSS Program Director to communicate progress and concerns within area of responsibility. Adhere to strict confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Contribute to a work environment that encourages and promotes all forms of diversity and cultural competency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Psychology, Human Resources, College Student Personnel Service or related field.
  • Three years work experience in the field of Education at the high school or postsecondary level
  • At least two years demonstrated experience working with students who need additional academic and personal support.
  • The ideal candidate should possess a genuine desire to positively engage and inform targeted population.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience in the field of career development
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with TRiO or similar programs that work with underrepresented or underserved populations.
  • Priority consideration will be given to applicants who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to the target population to be served (students who are low-income, first-generation, and/or have a documented disability.

SALARY: Based on education and experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Successful applicant will be required to pass a criminal background check prior to employment.

Associate Degree Nurse Faculty

LOCATION:  Dakota College at Bottineau distance site at Trinity St. Joseph Campus, Minot, ND.

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: This is an 11-month, tenure, benefited position.

JOB SUMMARY:  Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) is seeking an instructor to teach courses in its nursing program to undergraduate students in practical nursing and associate degree nursing programs. The person selected for this position will be responsible for the planning, implementation, teaching, and evaluation of student learning experiences in the classroom and clinical areas with nursing students enrolled in the Dakota Nursing Program.

Responsible for curriculum including online, selection of course materials, monitoring program progress, supervising part-time nursing instructors, nursing skills assessment, course instruction, course assessment, and clinical supervision.  This position requires organizational skills, technical and professional writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Minimum Requirements:  Master of Science in Nursing, Nursing Education, or related area, or currently enrolled in a master's degree program with an education plan approved by the CNE which will allow completion of the master's degree program within three years.

SALARY:  Competitive salary based on education and experience.

Resident Assistant Athletic Coach (More than 1 position available)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Dakota College at Bottineau is seeking applicants for resident assistant coaching positions in its Residence Life and NJCAA/ACHA athletic programs. Responsibilities for this position include demonstrating competency in sport skill instruction, motivation and ability to conduct practice sessions under the direction of the head coach. This position can also entail recruiting duties depending on the candidate’s interest under the direction of the head coach. The candidate must demonstrate sincere interest in personal, academic and athletic progress of student-athletes. They will also exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior for goals set by head coach. The successful candidate will also demonstrate leadership ability and professional behavior when dealing with students in all areas on campus.  Also will serve in the residence halls as an adult Resident Assistant, assisting students professionally and personally as well as enforcing DCB residence life rules and regulations.  Sports offered at DCB are football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s ice hockey, baseball, softball, and women’s volleyball.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to build and maintain working relationships with college students. Ability to travel and work a varied schedule. Playing and/or coaching experience preferred.  Prior experience in residence life (RA) preferred, but not required.

DATE AVAILABLE: August 1, 2018

CLOSING DATE: Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until suitable candidates selected.

SALARY: 10 month contract,stipend position for coaching plus room and board in exchange for residence life responsibilities and duties.  Possible other duties on campus for additional pay.
