Business Office Accounting Clerk/Cashier

Full-time, 12-month Appointment, Benefited

Job Description: Dakota College at Bottineau is seeking applicants for the Business Office Accounting Clerk/Cashier. Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Cashier – Receive money, issue receipts, record into proper accounts, balance the cash drawer daily. Collection of fees from students. Provide student with information concerning financial aid and fees. Preparation of daily bank deposit. Issue and account for cash boxes for athletic and club events, to include selling tickets.
  • Campus Motor Pool – Maintain vehicle checkout report. Work with the physical plant regarding vehicle maintenance.
  • Accounts Payable – Enter accounts payable into the PeopleSoft system – verifying account codes and amounts for accuracy.
  • Department Tasks –Perform general office activities. Sort incoming mail for students, faculty and staff, meter mail and record expenses to appropriate departments, complete postage reports, scanning. Prepare journals for postage, copies, paper supplies and bookstore. Maintain files for accounts receivable and journals. Maintain student vehicle registration cards and update list of parking permits. Process billing for student athletic charges, parking fines, etc. Greet visitors/students, respond to questions and direct to appropriate offices. Maintain business office records using the state record retention policy. Process student finance checks. Keep current on topics relevant to the position and assist the business office with projects as assigned.

Qualifications Required: Knowledge and experience with cashiering, accounting practices, and computers. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task.

Qualifications Preferred: Associate’s degree in Business Management or Accounting preferred. Experience with Campus Connection, PeopleSoft, Excel, Perceptive Content preferred.

Registrar

Full-time, 12 month benefited position

Job Description: The Registrar has responsibilities for operational matters related to academic records maintenance and registration activities. Specifically, this position works with the college’s student information system (PeopleSoft/Oracle Campus Solutions) to input and manage student records. The Registrar will report to the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and will direct/assist in coordinating registrar/registration functions, imaging system implementation and graduation as part of their duties. There are also significant customer service components in this position. There are several duties that are the sole responsibility of this employee. Some of these duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Reviewing student educational records to insure compliance with North Dakota University System (NDUS) and institutional policies and informing students when records do not comply.
  2. Maintaining and insuring accuracy and security of student records as well as the regulations of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  3. Interpreting institutional and NDUS academic and student affairs policies.
  4. Maintaining and processing enrollments/withdrawals using PeopleSoft software.
  5. Coordinating the submission of enrollment and degree data to the National Student Clearinghouse.
  6. Producing, editing and proofreading camera-ready copy, catalogs, or handbooks as needed.
  7. Evaluating and entering transfer credits into campus connection.
  8. Coordinating the collaborative student enrollment process.
  9. Processing and sending transcripts per student requests.
  10. Managing and maintaining the collaborative student files. Processing all collaborative students including registration, drop/adds, withdrawals etc.
  11. Serving as the campus military liaison providing information for students and prospective students interested in educational benefits based on military service or status.
  12. Records Retention Management. This position will require a self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills.

Required Qualifications: 1) Bachelor’s degree; 2) extensive knowledge and experience in the use of computer systems and application software including Microsoft Office; 3) strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a detail oriented atmosphere; 4) excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills and 5) the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people; and 6) ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications: 1) Master’s degree; and 2) experience in post-secondary student services, student records, and/or admissions.

Additional Requirement: Successful applicant will be required to pass a criminal history background investigation prior to employment.

Resident Assistant Athletic Coach (More than 1 position available)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Dakota College at Bottineau is seeking applicants for resident assistant coaching positions in its Residence Life and NJCAA/ACHA athletic programs. Responsibilities for this position include demonstrating competency in sport skill instruction, motivation and ability to conduct practice sessions under the direction of the head coach. This position can also entail recruiting duties depending on the candidate’s interest under the direction of the head coach. The candidate must demonstrate sincere interest in personal, academic and athletic progress of student-athletes. They will also exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior for goals set by head coach. The successful candidate will also demonstrate leadership ability and professional behavior when dealing with students in all areas on campus.  Also will serve in the residence halls as an adult Resident Assistant, assisting students professionally and personally as well as enforcing DCB residence life rules and regulations.  Sports offered at DCB are football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s ice hockey, baseball, softball, and women’s volleyball.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to build and maintain working relationships with college students. Ability to travel and work a varied schedule. Playing and/or coaching experience preferred.  Prior experience in residence life (RA) preferred, but not required.

SALARY: 10 month contract,stipend position for coaching plus room and board in exchange for residence life responsibilities and duties.  Possible other duties on campus for additional pay.
