EMS 276 Field Clinical I (2CR) This course allows the paramedic student to apply learned classroom skills and knowledge in clinical settings such as anesthesia, emergency department, same-day surgery, operating room, and respiratory care. EMS 277 Field Clinical II (4CR) This course allows the paramedic student to apply learned classroom skills and knowledge under the direction of a preceptor in a pre-hospital setting. The student will also function as a team leader on selected BLS calls. The student will be stationed with a licensed ALS ambulance service. The student will input patient contact information into the FISDAP Internet data collection system. EMS 297 Field Internship (5CR) Summer; Pre: EMS 316 or Instructor Approval This course allows the paramedic student to apply learned classroom and field skills and knowledge as a team member in the pre-hospital setting. The student will function under the direction of a preceptor but without any prompting. Students will input patient contact information into the electronic charting system. Summative cognitive, psychomotor and effective evaluations will be performed to assure the student has progressed toward higher levels of critical thinking and performance.
