Application for Summer Financial Aid

Summer Financial Aid Information for Students. Please Read:

  1. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits to be considered for some of the financial aid programs.
  2. Students must meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards in order to receive financial aid for summer term. If you are currently on financial aid probation, upon successful completion of the spring semester you will receive a summer award letter.
  3. Funding sources for the summer session are generally limited to the student’s remaining Federal Pell Grant eligibility, the remaining Federal Direct Loan eligibility, and any external source available to the student.

When determining the maximum loan limits for the Stafford Loan Program the amount of Federal Stafford Loan you borrowed for the 2018-2019 academic year (Fall and Spring semester) will be considered before awarding for Summer semester.

The amount of Federal Direct Loan you borrow for the summer session will not affect your Federal Direct Loan eligibility for the 2018-2019 academic year at Dakota College at Bottineau unless you are near the aggregate borrowing limit of $31,000 for dependent students or $57,500 for independent students.

Credit Requirements for Summer Session

Full Time = 12+ Credits
3/4 Time = 9 to 11
1/2 Time = 6 to 8
Less than 1/2 = 1-5

Enrollment in Six(6) credits is a minimum to be eligible for some federal aid programs. Award letters will be processed upon registration for classes and processing of the completed 18-19 FAFSA.

You will not be eligible for any federal aid until FAFSA is completed and processed.
